Background:

The flypast is part of a range of events that the Number 3 Squadron Association is hosting to mark the 100th
anniversary of Number 3 Squadron’s formation in 1916.

The Memorial Plaque is dedicated to Number 3 Squadron’s casualties from all eras. It also has a special
section specifically commemorating four Royal Australian Air Force personnel who gave their lives
in flying accidents in Canberra. The first of those accidents occurred exactly 90 years ago on the 11th
of February 1926.

Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military
flying and Air Force appreciates the support it receives from the Canberra community during this flying
activity.
