The Royal Australian Air Force’s 2 Operational Conversion Unit (2OCU) put on an event for the unit’s family and friends on Friday 27th of September and, as part of this, they also put up a formation and solo handling display of their F/A-18A&B Classic Hornets.
As 2OCU nears the end of its Classic Hornet operations later this year, there won’t be too many more opportunities to catch displays such as this, so it was not to be missed.
The weather was great and the pilots put on a great show. Fil (XO), Shtor, Hawk and Woody (CO) began with several formation passes, including one with all four jets in “Dirty” configuration (gear, flaps and hooks down) before finishing up with a bomb-burst.
Once the others had landed, Fil then carried out a high-performance, solo handling display, which is always a treat to watch.
Our thanks to Everyone involved for the opportunity to capture this great display.
