Following our ‘Heads up’ post yesterday ASO were very grateful to Colin Turner for capturing and contributing to us these great shots of a formation of 3 RAAF 3 Squadron Hornets as they flew past a ceremony today in Canberra celebrating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of their squadron.

The three F/A-18 A and B types that took part in the flypast are a far cry from the box kites and bi-planes the squadron were flying 100 years ago. No doubt the spirit of the aviators has not changed.

3 SQN celebrating 100 years of protecting and serving Australia.

Colin went above and beyond to secure these images climbing to the top of a substantial hill in the Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve to achieve a good vantage point. I think you’ll agree his efforts were well rewarded.

Colin uses a Canon 5D Mark III with a 300mm f/2.8 L IS lens teamed up with a 2.0x Mark III Teleconvertor and a Canon 7D Mark II with a 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS lens teamed up with a 1.4x Mark III Teleconvertor.

Great Job Colin … thanks for the contribution.
